Google may have heard the prayers of thousands of Windows Phone and ActiveSync users as it has granted another extension to users allowing them to use its syncing service up until the last day of the current year – December 31.
Back in December 2012 Google decided to nix support for Exchange ActiveSync towards the end of January 2013. But it didn’t go through with the decision and decided to extend the support up until July 31 i.e. yesterday allowing Microsoft to update Windows Phone 8 with support for CardDAV and CalDAV. Microsoft has already done so, but there are quite a few users who haven’t updated their handsets and this seems to be the probable reason why Google has again extended the support for another 5 months.
Microsoft spokesperson confirmed in a statement to The Verge, “We’ve reached an agreement with Google to extend support for new Windows Phone connections to the Google Sync service through December 31, 2013.”
