With some strong games coming in over the last few weeks, Sony has managed to register increase in PS Vita sales and this is definitely good for the company as this would push other game developers specifically some strong Japanese developers to align their development strategy for 2014-15 towards launching more PS Vita titles.
Sales of Nintendo Wii U continue to flatline and as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have already been announced, the Wii U has started wilting. According to latest weekly tracking data, Wii U managed to sell only 5,800 units which gives it a mere 5% of share of Japan’s total console sales. On the other hand PS Vita clocked in 34,000 units just behind Nintendo 3DS that registered 45,000 units. Looking at the overall figure, 3DS and Vita make up nearly 74% of the console market in Japan.
If the trend continues chances are game developers will start planning out Vita titles alongside their already planned PlayStation 4 titles making it a win-win situation for Sony.
