HTC unveils Butterfly S with UltraPixel, full HD display

The new Butterfly S packs a 5-inch, Super LCD 3 display with full HD resolution at a density of 440 pixel per inch (ppi) and has an optical lamination and scratch-resistant glass to present it all. There is this 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera on the rear that supports HTC Zoe. The front camera is a 2.1-megapixel camera with HTC’s 88-degree wide lens.

HTC has put in its ImageChip 2 processor in the Butterfly S that allows for automatic stitching of multiple Zoe clusters into a 30-sec highlight reel that packs not just images but, also soundtrack effects as well as transitions. A 1.9 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor powers the smartphone which is complemented by 2GB RAM. The Butterfly S has an inbuilt storage of 16GB and HTC has been kind enough to provide a microSD card slot as well.

The handset has enough connectivity options – quadband WCDMA; quadband GSM/EDGE; Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac; NFC; and Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX. Butterfly S also borrows infrared blaster from the One which can be used with preloaded TV remote app.

Butterfly S has a 3,200 mAh battery which is almost 40 per cent bigger than One’s. HTC has put in BoomSound dual-speaker system on the front of the phone instead of the rear as present in the old Butterfly.
