Announced just before the Google I/O conference, the search engine giant revealed that the increased storage would be available to all its users over the period of next couple of weeks. With 15GB of free storage, Google Drive has become one of the most generous cloud storage providers on the block. Microsoft’s SkyDrive only provides 7GB of storage while Dropbox only provides 2GB. SugarSync, Apple iCloud and Amazon Cloud Storage all provide 5GB of free storage each to their users.

“…instead of having 10 GB for Gmail and another 5 GB for Drive and Google+ Photos, you’ll now get 15 GB of unified storage for free to use as you like between Drive, Gmail, and Google+ Photos.” Google noted in a blog post.

Google has announced that it will also be updating the Google Drive Storage Page to give its users a better idea as to what is taking up space in their online drive.
