Revamped to provide higher performance the X3-2 includes support for virtualization. Following support for virtualization, ISVs will be able to provide a complete out of the box solution by packaging their own software. According to Oracle, the virtual platform will make licensing easier, as its customers will be able to pay only for the apps they will use, not for the whole bundle like before.
“Oracle Database Appliance is a complete package of software, server, storage and networking engineered for simplicity and high availability to help customers and partners take advantage of the world’s most popular database”, said Oracle in a press release.
Sohan DeMel, VP Product Strategy and Business Development at Oracle said, “With the second generation, we’ve infused this engineered system with up to twice the power and added virtualization support.”
The X3-2 will allow for rapid and streamlined deployment and will be able to manage pre-configured Oracle VM Templates for Oracle Database, Oracle WebLogic Server, and some Oracle Applications.
