According to a report on German tech site Area Mobile, 5000 more Z10s have been ordered and they will be used by government officials. Alongside the Z10, it is also reported that 5000 Samsung Galaxy S II and Galaxy S III models have also been ordered. One thing that does catch the attention is that iPhones are nowhere to be seen in this report.
Düsseldorf Secusmart security specialist and T-Systems have bagged a deal for all communication for the Government of Germany via Procurement Office of the Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). BSI has also entered into an agreement with Deutsche Telekom for the supply of the Samsung smartphones.
BlackBerry has always been known for its secure data processing and this deal will surely boost the sales as well as the garner the much needed attention which it has been losing over the years. The government staff will have the privilege to use BlackBerry Balance which will allow them to use applications like Facebook and Twitter but the secret data will still be under I.T department.
Other Federal agencies in the US, the UK, and other countries may soon follow suite and chances are that BlackBerry may once again regain its popularity as the business class smartphone manufacturer.
