BlackBerry Z10 Gets First OTA Software Update

Z10 is BlackBerry’s (formerly RIM) first smartphone running BlackBerry OS 10 and within just a few days of its launch, it has managed to garner quite a few positive reviews. Michael Clewey, BlackBerry’s director of handheld software said in a blog post, “You’ve been using it for weeks, and we’ve been listening to your feedback, and have been working on an update just for you.”

Users who update their handsets will find their handsets upgraded to BlackBerry OS 10.0.10.85 which brings a number of bug fixes and improvements over the previous version. These improvements include fixes to Gmail calendars, better third party apps performance, camera optimization for low-light photos and improved video playback in the browser.

The update also improves the battery life of the phone with over 60 battery saving tweaks! BlackBerry claims that a number of popular apps are ready to be released on OS10 in March like Whatsapp which will make BlackBerry OS 10 even more appealing to the younger crowd.

BlackBerry started pushing the OTA update starting Thursday but, it may take a while before you receiving it on your Z10 and it would be better if you update your handset over Wi-Fi.
