Google is seemingly trying to re-base the Android OS on the Linux 3.8 kernel and engineers over at Google have been busy coding modifications on top of the kernel making it friendlier for Android use. The Android maker is still maintaining different kernel versions – 3.0, 3.3 and 3.4 and with Android Jelly Bean shipping with Linux 3.0 as its base, intentions behind the new ‘experimental’ code are still not clear.

Enthusiasts are expecting the arrival of Android 5.0 “Key Lime Pie” in the next few months and this could possible see the release of first Android version based on Linux 3.8 Kernel.
