A couple of days back Canonical had promised that it would make available the initial developer preview images on Thursday. The images are now available for download and can be installed on Google tablets and smartphones which otherwise have Android installed on them.

According to Canonical the final version of the touch optimized operating system will be releasing only with Ubuntu 13.10 and that too for vendors. Consumers may get their hands onto the operating system in 2014.
The announcement of Ubuntu for tablet came out of the blue on February 18 through a 24-hour countdown on Ubuntu website.
