Dubbed as the NVIDIA’s ‘first fully integrated 4G LTE mobile processor’ the chipset comes with an i500 LTE modem and is loaded with 60 custom GPU cores. With four ARM Cortex-A9 cores, the Tegra 4i clocks an amazing 2.3GHz and has a fifth battery-saving ‘companion’ core.

Phil Carmack, senior vice president of the Mobile business at NVIDIA, said “NVIDIA is delivering for the first time a single, integrated processor that powers all the major functions of a smartphone.”

“Tegra 4i phones will provide amazing computing power, world-class phone capabilities, and exceptionally long battery life”, he added further.

The thing that doesn’t impress much  in the Tegra 4i is Cortex-A9 itself. NVIDIA could have easily gone for an A15 which his hell of an upgrade over the A9. The Tegra 4 uses Cortex-A15 “Wayne” SoC and the dual core chipset is known to have performed exceptionally well as compared to the A9.
