EA Games and Zynga’s Copyright Tussle Settled Out of Court

Electronic Arts had sued Zynga back in August last year claiming that The Ville was a copy of it’s The Sims Social and that it wants to seek injunctive relief and damages. Zynga didn’t keep mum on this and a month later the company went on file a couple of motions to rebut the claims made by EA. It also filed a lawsuit against EA games alleging that the company was involved in anti-competitive and unlawful actions.

According to rumours, Zynga went on to employ personnel from EA who were aware of the internals and confidential information about “The Sims Social”. Using this information Zynga came up with The Ville.

Statements released by both the companies on account of the settlement were more or less the same: “EA and Zynga have resolved their respective claims and have reached a settlement of their litigation in the Northern District of California.”

No information is available about the terms of the settlement as yet.
