Authorities have claimed that there are dangerous deficiencies in the app and because of the inaccuracies in the maps “Macedon and a number of other Victorian towns are located incorrectly”. The problem according to bushfire safety community is that Apple doesn’t show the names of cities and townships at all times. Because of this, pinpointing the exact location of the fire is hard once an alarm call is received.

“This creates potentially dangerous situations and delays to activate phone trees if required”, claims Marcel Theunissen from Mt Rael in the Yarra Valley notes The Sydney Morning Herald.

The Country Fire Authority reported that they already have received “many complaints” about the missing details and mapping errors in the Fire Ready app, which are due to the flawed Apple’s mapping data.

Just last December Australian police warned against usage of Apple’s iOS Maps as it was leading motorists in the middle of nowhere. The Australian authorities classified the incident as “potentially life threatening” and asked motorists to avoid using the iPhone Maps completely.
