The evad3rs team, the group of iOS researchers behind the yet to be launched iOS 6.1 jailbreak has teased the upcoming Super Bowl Sunday as the launch day for the highly awaited jailbreak.
MuscleNerd, one of the members of the evad3rs team, confirmed today that iOS 6.1 has been jailbroken and that an untethered jailbreak will be launched coming Sunday.

The news comes just a couple of days after pod2g had confirmed in an interview with iDigitalTimes that iOS 6.0 and iOS 6.1 beta 4 were jailbroken and that the untethered jailbreak will only be released once the iOS 6.1 GM is released by apple, which was released earlier today.
The decision to launch the jailbreak after the GM release of iOS 6.1 makes sense for the jailbreaking community as Apple wouldn’t have time or any way to block users from jailbreaking their iDevices. If the jailbreak would have been released before the iOS 6.1 GM release, Cupertino would have had enough time to fix the vulnerabilities thereby rendering the exploits unusable.
