As we reported earlier, Pinkie Pie was going to be the probable winner second time in a row and the hacker has indeed walked away with $60000 prize for a full chrome exploit. In the hack, Pie first exploited vulnerability in the WebKit Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) to compromise the renderer process following which the hacker exploited a bug in the IPC layer to escape the Chrome sandbox Google announced.

Google, having dedicated three teams to update its Chrome browser, has already patched the vulnerabilities in less than 10 hours of being submitted by Pie. The new version is already being provided to users.

The search engine giant is going to post an in-depth analysis of the bugs and the corresponding mitigation steps once it patches Chrome on all other platforms.
