At the Tokyo Game Show, Akihiro Suzuki, producer of Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper told Eurogamer that the Wii U is having less CPU power as compared to the other two major gaming consoles thereby leading to drawbacks when games are ported to Wii U. Pointing to specific parts of the game, the producer said “When you have a lot of enemies coming at you at once, the performance tends to be affected because of the CPU.”
Nintendo announced the availability of the Wii U console for North America from November 18 allowing it to cash in on the approaching holiday season. Gamers were anticipating that the Wii U will pack more horse power as compared to the other gaming consoles giving it an edge but, it seems that the console is actually performing under par as developer reports are floating in.
Another unnamed developer told Eurogamer last month, “We are not limited by [the CPU power] but some other games might suffer from it.”
There are no specifics in regards to the underlying hardware, and the only thing known about the CPU is that it is an IBM-made CPU featuring three cores. Suzuki does have some good words for the console though. “From a visual standpoint, based on the performance of the Wii U, we knew the game had the capability of having much better graphics than games on PS3 and Xbox 360,” he said.
