By achieving these figures on Tuesday morning, Coca-Cola has joined the 50 million fan club where celebrities like Rihanna and Lady Gaga have already made their mark. There are others like YouTube and Facebook with such a fan following but, the soft drink company is the first retail brand to have crossed these numbers.
Having reached this milestone, Coca-Cola has launched a new app on its Facebook page through which fans can send in their ideas for inventions and ways to improve the world. The soft drink giant will support one of the submitted ideas and unveil the results sometime next year.
Joe Tripodi, Coca-Cola’s chief Marketing and Commercial Leadership officer said in a press release, “Today we have an engaged global community more than 50 million strong connected through Facebook.”
“This provides an opportunity to engage our most supportive and enthusiastic fans in a quest to find ways to make the world a happier place.” Tripodi added.
