The new logo keeps Microsoft’s colour scheme in sync with that found in its famous products. Next to the logo is the name ‘Microsoft’ in straight light type fonts [watch video below]. On its official blog, Microsoft has noted that this is the perfect time for such a change and that the current year is going to see launch of new versions of all its products. “It’s been 25 years since we’ve updated the Microsoft logo and now is the perfect time for a change.” the blog reads.
“This is an incredibly exciting year for Microsoft as we prepare to release new versions of nearly all of our products.” it reads further.
The new logo has been unveiled just before the highly awaited launch of Windows 8 and Windows phone 8 operating systems. The new logo is more or less in line with the new scheme adopted by the Office team in the latest version of Office suite.
Jeff Hansen, General Manager of brand strategy at Microsoft while speaking to Seattle Times said that the new logo is meant to, “signal the heritage but also signal the future — a newness and freshness”.
