“Shipments will start in August,” said Sharp’s new president, Takashi Okuda at a press briefing in Tokyo. He didn’t give out any specific dates though notes Reuters. It is expected that Apple is going to hold an even in September announcing the launch of iPhone 5.

Sharp is one of the three suppliers of screens alongside LG and Japan electronics. Not much has been revealed about the importance of these screens in relation to the new devices being prepped by Apple. But, it is speculated that these screens are meant for the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 4S successor is expected to be slimmer and boast of a larger screen. It is believed that the form factor of the new iPhone is going to remain the same, but the use of in-cell panel screen technology is going to let apple get rid of the current touch-screen layer and embed touch sensors within the LCD itself notes The Telegraph.

Some of the other rumours about the iPhone 5 are that it is going to be named the new iPhone and it is not going to have the old 30-pin dock connector. This shedding of 30-pin dock connector is not going to make a lot many people happy as the accessories will simply be obsolete.
