Initially launched through Firefox add-ons gallery for computer systems and later launched for phones in 2009, add-ons provide users a way to tweak and customize their Firefox browser and personalize it according to their liking.

Mozilla has revealed these numbers in its blog post by stating “We are excited to announce that we just crossed more than 3 billion downloads of Firefox Add-ons!”

“That’s almost half of the world’s population and more than the number of people on the Internet today”, it further added.

Mozilla has also revealed information about some of the most popular add-ons that include the likes of “AdBlock Plus, Firebug, NoScript, Personas Plus and Video DownloadHelper.” According to the Thunderbird maker, some of the popular categories “include privacy and security, search tools, bookmarks and themes.”
